Weather Again Conspires Against Us
There were more tears from the Acre Bottom supporters than from the weeping willow situated in the corner of Burnley’s ground as once again we were thwarted by the elements.
Winning the toss Harry had no hesitation in asking the home side to bat on a soft track which looked decidedly bowler friendly
These conditions are just right for the Bird and with our pro Billy once again giving nothing away we soon had the Burnley batsmen in trouble. With the ball stopping both openers were caught at mid on attempting drives. Dan Pickup then got a nasty delivery and he could only end up spooning the ball to Denty at slip. When JD caught Roberts Burnley were 18 for 4.

Professional Ockie Erasmus then deicded it was his job to keep out Billy, who once again was proving difficult to get away but with the Bird keeping it tight at his end run scoring was at a premium as the overs flew by.
With the score on 35 the Rams got the prize scalp of Erasmus who had been frustrated by the tight bowling. He drove Birdy slightly uppishly and Ben took a terrific diving catch a short cover.
After 22 over Billy was replaced by Denty and in his secod over he removed the Burnley captain Burton, again well caught at midwicket by Ben off the worst ball sent down all day.
With Burnley struggling at 46 for 6 off 26 overs the rains came and took away any chance of further play. Another frustrating day in a season where we have not played brilliantly but have deserved 3 victories against Enfield, Littleborough and Burnley. Although in the later case the runs chase would not have been easy.
Man of the Match – Birdy who finished with the fine figures of 4 of 24 off 13 overs.
