Scorecard here

A depleted and inexperienced Ramsbottom seconds travelled  to Bentgate to play title chasing Haslingden looking for revenge after their early season defeat against the same team at Acre Bottom. Ramsbottom captain Brad Wilson won the toss and decided to bat on what looked a good wicket.

The opening Haslingden pair of South African Leighton Friend and captain Tom Richards bowled well and Ramsbottom were soon 11 for 3 including an excellent slip catch from Friend. This brought Sam Price and Brad Wilson to the wicket. The pair put on 30 for the fourth wicket before Brad became one of Richard’s four victims . Sam continued to bat on playing some lovely strokes whilst wickets continued to fall at the other end. Ryan Storey provided support with his 18 before being one of birthday boy Joe Hayton’s 3 late wickets. Sam reached his 50 before being well caught on the boundary again by Friend. A 20 run last wicket partnership between Chris Round and 14 year old George Lee brought the score to 119 all out but this looked well short.

Haslingden opened with wicketkeeper Leon Brennan and Tom Richards. Richard was soon out and this brought Oliver Cameron to the wicket. Cameron and Brennan punished some short pitched Ramsbottom bowling scoring at close to 6 runs an over. Brennan was out for an excellent 31 and he was soon followed by Ahmed both dismissed by the pick of the Ramsbottom bowlers Tom Ireland. Cameron continued his innings with some exquisite drives bringing up his undefeated 50 and a seven wicket win for Haslingden.
