The 2nd team hosted Colne 2nds at Acre Bottom on a blustery Sunday afternoon. Colne won the toss and elected to bat as the spectators searched out a sheltered spot to settle for the afternoon.
Matt Burdaky and Ghulam Abbas both picked up early wickets to leave Colne at 4 for 2. Bentley and Jamil then settled the innings and took the score to 52 before Birdy took his second wicket caught by Mano. The wickets of Bentley and Braithwaite soon followed to Rammy’s twin spin attack of Matt Sutton and Charlie Hamilton. At 72 for 5 it looked like Colne might be restricted to a lowish score.
However the experienced Danny Kegg and Rashid Shahbaz then put together an excellent 86 run partnership. This laid the platform for a late push to take Colne’s total to 201 for 7 at the end of their 45 overs. Danny Kegg ended on 48 not out. Matt Sutton and Matt Burdaky the pick of the Rammy bowlers ending on 1 for 29 and 2 for 32 from their 12 over spells.

Rammy’s reply did not start well with Mano falling LBW in the first over. Nick Round and Charlie Hamilton then batted well to take the score to 72 before Nick popped up a catch to fall for 24. Led by Danny Kegg the Colne attack continued to make sure that runs were hard to come by. As the required run rate crept up wickets began to fall regularly as the Rams chased the game. When Charlie Hamilton was out for an excellent 57 the match turned strongly in Colne’s favour.
Unfortunately Matt Sutton had to retire hurt as he injured his knee hitting a six over cover. All at the club hope he recovers quickly.
The wickets then tumbled and we ended on 156 for 9 with Matt unable to return to the crease. A thoroughly deserved victory for Colne with Danny Kegg backing up his 48 not out with a match winning 4 for 42 from his 12 overs.
