Ramsbottom second team travelled up to Enfield looking at get back onto winning ways following the home defeat to Colne. The team shows 4 changes from the previous week with Jack Hincliffe, Seb Schofield, Jamie Pilling and Lewie Pearson all in the squad. On a typical drizzly Accrington day, Mark Dentith won the toss and decided to bat with Mano and Nick Round opening the innings. Having both been dropped early by Enfield fielders, the Ramsbottom openers took the attack to the opening bowlers scoring at over 7 runs an over. Nick played some lovely on drives whilst Mano played in his usual unorthodox style!
Mano departed following a near 50 partnership and after two further quick wickets, at 65 for 3 it looked like consolidation was needed. However Brad Wilson had different ideas. He joined Nick and immediately went on the attack, helped by some indifferent fielding. Nick fell for 59 but as wickets tumbled at the other end Brad continued his onslaught before being out for 80 off 50 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes. At this point a score of 200 looked likely but some intelligent cricket from Ryan Storey (28 not out off 31 balls) alongside the tail dragged the score to 235 all out in the last over. Enfield captain P O’Farrell the pick of their bowlers.

Seb Schofield and Mano opened the bowling and soon had the Enfield batters on the back foot. Seb generated lots of pace and took 3 quick wickets including a diving catch by Mark Dentith in the gully. The Enfield captain P O’Farrell was joined by A Shah at 37 for 3 and they looked to consolidate against some tight Ryan Storey bowling. As the run rate required reached 7 the pair looked to accelerate only to be both dismissed by Brad Wilson after a 100 partnership. The match looked then out of reach for Enfield and it was then a matter if Ramsbottom could get all 10 wickets. Mano and Seb returned to the attack and took the last 5 wickets with one over to spare. One of Seb’s wickets included a salmon like leap from Mark Dentith catching the ball above his head one handed in his weaker hand. On returning to earth Mark has heard to describe his catch as one of the best of his career. Seb took 6 for 48 and Rammy won by 31 runs.
RCC Man of the match has lots of candidates. Nick for his 50, Ryan for his tight bowling and batting with the tail, Jack Hinchliffe for his high quality wicket keeping , Seb for his 6 wickets, Mark for his 2 worldy catches but it has to be Brad Wilson for his 80 runs and 2 key wickets
