On reflection – how was the 2018 season for you and RCC?

I thought it was a successful campaign with us pushing a strong Walsden side all the way until the last 2 or 3 games of the season and reaching T20 finals day. Obviously pleased to be leading wicket taker at my ripe old age.

What have you been doing over the winter to keep active ?

Walking the dogs

How was winter nets for you and the boys ?

I struggled to get there most weeks with JJ’s commitments.

What work has been done both on and off the field in the winter months at RCC?

There have been a couple of changes personnel wise with Rob Read retiring and 3 or 4 new additions. The squad looks stronger than last season which is a positive.

Off the field the back nets have been refurbished and lots of hard work carried out to bring the ground up to usual standards.

Moving into the 2019 season, this will be your tenth season back at the club, what are your aspirations both personally and as a team ?

Personally I just want to make positive contributions to the team with the ball and hopefully chip in with the bat lower down the order. With the squad we have and very good professional we should be looking at challenging on all fronts including LKO.

Which Professional do you think will be the stand out paid man in 2019?

Difficult to comment however I did like the look of Walsden pro last season.

Which teams do you enjoy playing against the most and why ?

Always a competitive, close games against Lowerhouse which I enjoy. Good set of lads who play hard but fair.

Favourite ground and why?

Ive always enjoyed playing at Nelson right back from when I first started in the early 90’s. In those days the wicket was a better spacious changing rooms, good vantage point on the players balcony.

Amateur players to watech this season?

It maybe biased but Tom Parton has worked very hard at his game and fitness in the winter and feels he could have a great season with both bat and gloves.

Jonny Whitehead good signing for Lowerhouse also Dave Bowden very effective bowler.

Best game you have played in for Rammy ?

Best game- 1992 home league game versus Haslingden. Effectively a title decider which we won on the last ball of the game. Sunny day , huge crowd, game had everything.

There’s been a few good’uns , but who is the best Pro you have played with and why?

Daryn Smit is the best all round pro I have played with at RCC – run machine with the bat and took lots of wickets averaging under 10 most seasons. Great clubman also.

Keith Arthurton was a special player also.

Finally your tips for 2019
