The Junior team-fixtures fared better against the weather this week and won all their games bar one!
On Monday 3rd June our U15s Rammyfield team beat Euxton in R2 of the LJL Cup. Rammyfield batted first and gathered 131-5 from 20 overs with Ed T (51ret n.o.) and Tom Ireland (24). Conor D took 4 for 10 in 4 overs to topple their top order and won by 63 runs.
On the same night our U9s won twice at Greenmount. Greenmount A 254/2 vs Rammy 266/1. Greenmount B 214/6 vs Rammy 273/0. Brilliant performances from the squad that’s improving every week.
Weds 5th June saw our U11s beat a very strong Bolton Indians side. A great opening stand of 15 between Evie and Dylan, a partnership of 22 between Sonny (17no) and Isaac, Harry and Maxwell keeping out one of the best under 11 bowlers we’ve seen and then Louis and Zak keeping their nerve and seeing us home. Great bowling and fielding earlier in the evening from all with a special mention to Zak who’s improving every week. We eventually won by 7 runs, 243 v 236, great effort.
On the same night our U13s beat the league leaders Colne in the 8-a-side format. Another pleasing performance and team effort with bat, ball and in the field. Rammy defended their 250 score solidly, especially Zack Eatough who had a cracking game and deserved his MoM. He also kept his head batting and took 3 vital wickets to secure the win. Fantastic!
Our U13s travelled to Todmorden the next evening to play their Round 2 Cup Tie. Tod won the toss and chose to bat reaching 101 from their 20 overs. George Lee taking 2 wickets in 2 overs with beautifully flighted left arm orthodox. Rammy took up the challenge with Isaac Turner (31ret n.o.) and Harry Bradley (30ret n.o.) amongst the runs again. George Lee batted steadily for 19n.o. and Joe Lynchey hitting the winning runs with over 4 overs to spare.
Sadly, on the same night, our only loss of the week came against possibly the strongest team in the league, Woodbank U11s. Something to learn from in every game. Well done for sticking at it Rammy
