Mixed result from Rammy Juniors (but at least the sun was shining at last!)

Finally, the sun came out and our U15s “Rammyfield” played Darwen in their next league fixture. Darwen won the toss and asked us to bat. We progressed to 107-6 off 20 overs with runs from Ed Taylor (28) and Josh Blake (30 not out). Sadly that under par score wasn’t enough to test a competent Darwen side who knocked-off the target in 18 overs to win by 7 wickets.

Our U13s extended their winning run to 8 games with a 55-run victory over Haslingden at Acre Bottom. In the 8-a-side pairs format, Ramsbottom won the toss and decided to bat on a warm night. It proved the right decision as the top order accumulated 36 runs for no wicket off the first 8 overs with Zack Eatough (10) and Bakar Ahmed (14) supporting a solid start from Tony Anderson and Isaac Moore. Haslingden started to chase the target of 250, but our bowling attack soon piled on the pressure and took wickets (coasting 8 runs apiece). Pick of the bunch was Isaac Moore with his leg spinners (3-0-11-2) and Man of the Match George Clarke (3-0-10-3). Congratulations to the whole team for the best fielding performance of the season.

The U11s moved into their second half of the season against equal ability teams from across GMCL, but came up against an extraordinarily strong Roe Green side. All the players were brilliant at sticking to their task, but we fell to a large defeat 302 vs 187.

Finally, the U9s travelled to Walshaw for two games against Elton A and Walshaw A in the GMCL 6-a-side pairs format. Elton’s 253-2 was too strong for Rammy’s 237-5 but we bounced back in the second game beating Walshaw by 28 runs, our 254-4 vs Walshaw’s 225-4.
