Another winning week for all our Juniors who played this week, but sadly the rain prevented the U9s and U15s from playing.
Our U11s travelled to Edgworth in their final league game of the first half of the season. Our 277 was too strong for their 249, with great batting from Louis (24) Harry (24) Sonny (13), Maxwell (12) and great bowling from Maxwell (2 wkts) and Evie (1 wkt for 11 off 2 overs) against the strongest batters. A really great team performance with fielding and run-outs playing their part as well. The second half of the season will now be decided by their position in the table, Rammy finished in the Top half so will play equal ability teams around them for the last half of the season.
Our U13s continued their winning streak with two wins against Haslingden (11-a-side) and Greenmount (8-a-side). In a tight game on Wed 19th June at Acre Bottom, Haslingden won the toss and put us into bat. With the damp conditions, our batsmen battled on to reach 84-8 off 20 overs with runs coming from Harry Bradley (26), Isaac Turner (15) and Toby Anderson (10). Haslingden soon discovered it wasn’t an easy track to score quickly on, and our bowlers kept their total to 73-4 off their 20 overs. Great bowling from Oliver Croft (4-0-11-2) and sharp fielding from George Clarke teed-up Harry Bradley to close out the victory in the death over.
Our U13s (8-a-side team) stretched the winning streak to 8 games with a 31-run victory at Greenmount CC. Great bowling from Josh Simpson (3-0-11-2) and Lewis Ayres (3-0-19-2) kept the Greenmount total in check at 222. Good knocks from Bakar Ahmed (12) and Jack Hinchliffe (12), supported by crafty batting from Lewis Ayres (7) and Toby Anderson (8) in their allocated overs, saw us home with a finishing total of 253. Solid and sensible batting won the game.
