JUNIOR ROUND UP – 20th May 2022

U9s Monday 2 May
Our U9s A Team managed 2 wins against Bury and Woodbank scoring 284/3 against Bury. A really good batting performance with Harry Holt (16 not out) Noha Abbas (16 not out) and Eoin Hunt (15 not out) leading the way on the night.

Our U9s B Team secured a win v Bury but suffered a defeat to Woodbank. Really promising signs from our young side at the start of the season!

U13’s Girls v Church (A) 15 May
Scarlett and Grace E set us up scoring 33 off the first 4 overs before Amelia and Evie boosted us with 20+ off the last 4. We ended 271 from our 16.

Church made 265 but with 5 wickets their end score was 240. Grace Iles piocked up 2 wickets with Isla and Grace one each. We also had a run out.

Great performance from our team in their first match

Mon 16 May – U13s thrilling win at Rochdale

On a damp night at Redbrook, our U13s overturned their pre-season friendly loss with a stunning performance with the ball.
Rammy 116-3 (20 overs) & Rochdale 112-1 (20 overs)

Rammy set a decent target with great batting and brilliant running between the wickets from Grace Eaves (30 ret no) and Harry Collinge (30 ret no) backed up by Ryan Shard (14 no), Freddie Johnston (18) and Louis Almond-Read (16). Pick of the bowling Ryan Shard in the middle overs to put some scoreboard pressure on Rochdale (3 overs for 11), Evie Bennett and Mahdi Abbas keeping their usual tight lines. Rochdale were looking favourites when they needed only 11 from the last 3 overs, but some brilliant “death” bowling from Louis, Harry and Freddie secured the 4 run victory.

Our young B Team performed extremely well, winning one and losing one v Walshaw A and B teams. Special mentions to Emma and Bobby who got 2 wickets each v Walshaw A and to Arthur Shaw who hit a 4 to win the game v Walshaw B. Real progress being made by such a young side!
