Girls Under 13s v Hightown St Mary’s CC – 7 August 2022

HStMCC 191 (16 overs) RCC 283 (16 overs)

On a sunny morning in Ramsbottom, the newly crowned u13 Girls North of England T20 champions welcomed Hightown St Mary’s to Acre Bottom for their next league fixture. HSM had an early start due to the distance travelled and so agreed to bat first while the last two players arrived.
Emilia O’Keeffe and Amelia Buckley bowled against the opening pair and between them took 2 wickets for only 2 runs off the bat. The next pair face debutant Tilly and Isla who took 3 for 11.
They were followed by Keira and another newcomer in Cora who in their four overs took 2–12. The final HSM pair faced Grace E with Emilia and Keira taking the extra overs. The last four overs seeing four wickets fall for only 10 runs off the bat.
Bowling figure were amazing all round:
Emilia 3-2-8-2
Amelia 2-1-2-1
Tilly 2-0-9-1
Isla 2-1-3-2
Keira 3-2-3-2
Cora 2-0-9-0
Grace 2-1-2-2
The girls were fantastic throughout and took a total of 11 wickets (1 run out) which meant HSM finished on a score of 191 after starting at 200.
Given the score, all Ramsbottom had to do was not lose wickets and that is how it set out with Cora and Isla getting us off to a great start. The charge was slightly delayed with some players attempting aerial shots until Amelia let loose in the third pair scoring 27 off 17 balls and then Grace E in the last pair smashed 27 from 13. This ensured an emphatic victory with Ramsbottom finishing on 283 giving a 92 run victory.
The girls continue a very strong season and now go on to the National T20 finals day on 19th August. That is being live streamed so those who cannot make their way to Neston CC please follow and show your support for this fantastic group of girls.
