All three senior teams are in action this weekend. Whilst it doesn’t look as though the weather will be as kind let’s keep our fingers crossed we can see the matches completed and we can carry on the winning starts made by all 3 teams in their opening games.
1st XI 28/4/19 Away v Norden 1pm
This will be the first time the 1st XI play away at Norden, who finished in 6th place in 2018 in their first year in the league. In last season’s fixture the 1st XI won by 4 wickets. Norden won the toss, elected to bat and were bowled them out for 132 despite a 6th wicket stand worth 59, with Jon Fielding taking 5 for 33. The 1st XI reached their target in the 44th over with Tom Parton making 32 and Si Hanson chipping in with a useful 25. Norden have re-signed last year’s pro Jake Sandham who took 51 wickets last season at 18.41 including a 5 for 35. He also made 391 runs including a 120 not out. Jake is a right arm fast -medium bowler who has represented Cumberland. Daryn Smit will again be our sub pro after scoring steady 58 last week in our victory over Darwen. Norden’s ground is on Woodhouse Lane. Car parking is available just off Shawfield Lane down a short sign posted track. The post code is OL12 7SD and it should be a short drive of about 20 minutes from the club.

2nd XI 28/4/19 Home v Norden 1pm
Last season’s match was very similar to the 1st XI game but with Norden’s 2nd XI coming out on top. After winning the toss Laurie opted to bat and we made 135 all out in just over 30 overs. Brad Fielding made 38 including 3 sixes. Norden then reached their target despite losing 6 wickets with Jack Thomand and Andy Whittle taking 2 wickets apiece. Norden 2nds ended the season just below Rammy in the table in 8th place.
Best wishes to Matty Sutton who damaged his knee hitting the winning runs up at Darwen. Hope the injury is not as bad as first feared and he will be back paying sooner rather than later.
