A sobering weekend for all three teams in their league fixtures apart from the one bright spot of the 1st team’s win on Saturday in the Worsley Cup

The 1st team lost away at Walsden after scoring 154 all out. Tom Parton made 39 and Si Hanson 32 with both payers taking their career runs in the league over the 4,000 mark in the process. Walsden reached their target in just over 30 overs to take 12 points.

The second team lost the reverse fixture at Acre Bottom. Walsden batted first and were bowled out for 139 with Dale Gabriel and Jack Thomond taking 3 wickets each. In reply Rammy were bowled out for 64 with Walsden’s Shakir Hussain taking 8 for 28. The match was marred by some unnecessary behaviour with the Ramsbottom innings interrupted twice whilst the umpires tried to bring the game under control.

The 3rd team travelled to Nelson on Bank Holiday Monday. They lost in the last over in a rain affected match. Batting first we made 105 for 5 with Owen Collinge scoring 40. In reply Nelson reached their target in the last over having lost 2 wickets – both falling to Owen Collinge.

Rammy scored 263 for 7 in their 50 overs win on Saturday in the Worsley Cup with a magnificent 132 not out from George Linde and 30s from Rehan and The Pin. Middleton were then bowled out for 137 with Matt Burdaky taking 3 for 42 and George Linde capping off a great all-round performance with 4 for 22. The 2nd team cup fixtures are being replayed in full on 15th June after rain disrupted many of the games.

3rd Team – Saturday 01/06/2019 Away v Rawtenstall 1 pm

The 3rds are playing Rawtenstall on Saturday. We did not pay them in last season’s 3rd team group structure. Rawtenstall were bottom of Pool A last year and have won 2 of their 6 league games this year. Good to have a local fixture back this season for the 3rds – The Worswick Memorial Ground is just up the road, a 10-minute drive with the post code BB4 7ND.
