A better weekend for the Club with the 2nd and 3rd teams registering wins – as the song goes 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.

Unfortunately, the 1st team lost at home to Crompton. Crompton batted first and posted an impressive target of 271 for 6 thanks in the main to a chanceless 128 not out from their sub pro Will Bosisto and 69 from Mohammad Jamal. In reply Ramsbottom were bowled out for 208 with JJ making 30 and Rehan 43.

The second team won the reverse fixture at Crompton on the following day. Dale won the toss and batted first with the 2nds posting 228 for 4 thanks to Jonathan Dack’s 107 and Nicholas Round’s 71 not out – they shared a stand of 164. Crompton were bowled out for 89 with Dale taking 6 for 22 supported by some superb fielding including a great catch by youngster Tom Ireland at square leg.

The 3rd team were away at Rawtenstall on Saturday and registered a 7-wicket win. The 3rds fielded a very young side (due in part to a cultural visit to Hamburg for some of the older players) and dismissed Rawtenstall for 174 with 5 run outs. Jake “Cupcake” Walker was responsible for 3 of the run outs and took 2 wickets – a different way to get a 5 for. The target was reached with the loss of 3 wickets with Ben Parkinson on 93 not out and Nick Round and Toby Ashworth making 32 and 23.
