It was a case of ‘after the Lord Mayors show’ for the Rams as they slipped to a 102 run defeat to Norden in the LCB Knockout Cup.

Rammy Falter At First Hurdle In LCB Cup

Despite the fact that Norden sit second in the league table, Rammy were way below the expected standard that they have set themselves.

Having lost the toss and asked to field everything seemed to be going fine in the first half of the opposition innings with Jack Wynn putting in an excellent spell of 9 overs for just 13 runs including the wicket of opening batsman – Josh Tolley.

At the half way stage – Norden were only 65 runs for the loss of 4 wickets, things looked promising.

However after the drinks break both the bowling and fielding standard dropped significantly and the opposition batsmen took full advantage to pile up a competitive score of 204.

This was always going to be a challenging target, with Rammy needed a good start to progress but for the second day running the top order failed. Any hope of the previous day’s middle order rescue was soon quashed as we fell like a pack of cards and it was only a last wicket stand that managed to scrape us into three figures.

This was a massive let down for both the team and supporters. Albeit next weekend’s fixtures give us the opportunity to bounce back with a Worsley Cup fixture and a challenging fixture to the current league champions – Walsden.
