Match Report Ramsbottom Under 18s v Littleborough Under 18s  – 10 June 2024

LCC 103 for 8 (20 overs) RCC 104 for 2  (16.2 overs)

Rammy Win Season Opener by 8 wickets

We travelled through Rochdale to Littleborough’s picturesque ground on a sunny but chilly evening. Rammy won the toss and decided to bowl.

With most of our U18s age group players not available, our younger U15s and U13s packed the XI. Mahdi took the new ball and was superb from the outset, grabbing 2 wickets in his first over. Littleborough steadily rebuilt their innings but some tight bowling, especially from Toby (3-1-6-0), kept control. Then Harry T claimed his first U18s wicket with a great catch in the deep from Toby. Boro fell from 60-2 to 82-6 once our front line spinner Isaac T came on to bowl, grabbing 3 wickets for 4 runs. He deserved more overs but the team ethos was set to include everyone in the game, so overs were shared around. Boro set us a target of 104.

At the interval Rammy knew this target was below par and our openers Tom Y-R (53* retired, off 30 balls, 9 x 4s) and Louis A-R (29*) set the tone with precise shot selection and great running between the wickets. Once Tom had retired, a couple of wickets fell, but even at 87-2 there were plenty of overs left. Louis and Harry T saw us over the line with nearly 4 overs to spare.

A great all-round team win, with many younger age group players showing the strength in depth at our club.
