Pleased to report that the 3rd XI kept up their winning start by taking 12 points in their match against Crompton. Not so good news for the 1st and 2nd teams who both suffered their first defeats of the season.
The 3rd XI kept up their winning start by taking 12 points in their match against Crompton. Crompton were bowled out for 78 with Owen Collinge and Brad Wilson taking 4 and 3 wickets respectively. We knocked off the runs with the loss of 3 wickets with Andy Whittle making 45 not out. The 1st and 2nd team’s unbroken run ended this weekend with the 1st XI losing at Church and the 2nd XI losing against Rishton . Church scored 244 after batting first, which included an explosive 100 from the home captain Levi Wolfenden whilst Rammy were all out for 184 with Alex Olpin earning his “baggy green” with a solid 78. The 2nd XI game against Rishton, at home, was a very close game. Batting first they made 130 all out. Rishton knocked off the runs in the last over with one wicket to spare. The winning run being a very close run out opportunity.
1st XI Saturday 18/05/19 Home v Burnley 1pm –
On Saturday the 1st team welcome Burnley to Acre Bottom. Last season we picked up 12 points in an 85-run win. Batting first we made 246 for 5 with an impressive 94 from 114 balls by Rehan Udwadia supported by 41 from Werner Coetsee and a quick 27 from Brad Fielding. Burnley were then bowled out for 161 with last year’s pro Werner taking 4 wickets and Trigger picking up 3 for 36. Burnley are currently without a pro this season and will field a sub professional.

1st XI Sunday 19/05/19 Home v Norden Lancashire Knock Out 1pm
On Sunday the 1st team face Norden in the LCF KO at Acre Bottom. We have already met Norden in the league this year. We came away from Norden with a 19-run victory in April. We made 154 with sub pro Daryn Smit making 72. Norden were bowled out for 135 with Daryn capping an impressive all-round performance by taking 6 for 16.

2nd XI Sunday 19/05/19 Away v Burnley 1pm
The 2nd team travel to Burnley on Sunday. In last season’s fixture Burnley won by 7 wickets. After winning the toss Rammy batted first and made 156 all out. Sam Price made 30 with Lee Kenyon contributing a useful 36 not out. Burnley reached the required total in under 40 overs with solid scoring by all including a 50 for Harry Tomlinson. Burnley play in the shadow of the football ground. The post code is BB10 4BN – it’s just under 30 minutes away and you can always follow the signs to the football stadium.
