Welcome to Ramsbottom CC

We are delighted to that our professional for 2024, Sri Lankan left-arm spinner Hareen Buddila, has arrived safely along with his wife Vishmi. The former Sri Lankan Under-19 star plays domestic cricket for Galle in Sri Lanka. The weather gods were not too kind today as they arrived in the midst of the storm. We are all hoping for some sun and dry weather soon.

Last season, he was the professional at Fulwood and Broughton CC in the Northern Premier Cricket League where he not only took 77 wickets but also showed his credentials as an all-rounder, scoring 624 runs.

Hareen is a Level 2 coach so look out for more info on one to one to one coaching opportunities.

Please give Hareen and Vishmi a warm welcome to Acre Bottom.

Here’s a quick Q&A to introduce you to Hareen.

How did it come about signing for Ramsbottom CC ?

I was made aware of Ramsbottom’s interest through my agent Gary Hunt. It was a relatively straight forward process from then on, thanks to the Club and Gary.

How was your first season in England last year ?

Last season I played for Fulwood and Broughton in the Northern Premier League. I felt that it went well with 76 wickets and 607 runs.

You played in the disappointing last game of the 2023 season for RCC. What were your thoughts on the team that day ?

It was obviously a big game for the club, unfortunately it didn’t work out for us. If we had played more diligently in our innings, we could have potentially won the game.

The team has strengthened in the off-season, what are your aspirations for this year ?

Our aspirations must be to win the league and return to the top division.

How has your season been back in Sri Lanka ?

It has been a very good season, especially in the T20 competition.

What do you feel are your strengths in your game ?

I’m a bowling all-rounder, however I have been working hard on my batting. Hopefully this will help support the team in any given situation.

RCC has a superb Academy section, what will you bring when working with the future players of RCC ?

I hope to build on the basics with the players of the future. It is very important that a club like Ramsbottom continue to bring through good home-grown players.

Away from cricket, how do you relax ?

I like walking and visiting beautiful places. Then my mind is free to concentrate on my game when playing.

Favourite food ?

Favourite drink ?

Hot chocolate

Most memorable match you played in last season ?

It must be when I took 8/37 against Blackpool Cricket Club.

Any cricketers over here you will be meeting up with ?

I am good friends with Dulash Udayanga, he will also be playing in the UK.

What will you bring to RCC team this season both on and off the field ?

I’m a friendly guy who believes in my teammates. I hope that my experiences from both the UK and Sri Lanka, will help contribute to the team challenging for the league.

Which football club do you support ?

FC Barcelona

Do you have any personal targets for this season ?

Like all professionals – to be the leading wicket-taker and best all-rounder in the league.
