Ramsbottom completed a cup double over Clitheroe in glorious sunshine on Saturday.
At Chatburn Road Martin Cropper continued his fine early season form with a determined 50 after the early dismissal of Tom Parton by former Ram Sam Halstead. Cropper added 75 for the 3rd wicket with Daryn Smit before an unfortunate mix-up saw him run out. Daryn upped his scoring rate to finish on an unbeaten 109 off 114 balls as Ramsbottom closed on 252-5.
Matt Burdacky was in the wickets again, taking the first two with only 26 on the board. Simon Hanson claimed the wicket of Sub Pro Harvey Hosein for 9. Charlie Dewhust and Peter Dibb threatened resistance but the golden arm of Dale Gabriel delivered again having Dewhurst caught and bowled for 35 while a magnificent boundary catch by Cropper off Fielding for 23 put Rams in the box seat. Clitheroe were eventually all out for 192.
Early wickets for the 2s helped set up victory at Acre Bottom over Clitheroe 2s who slumped from 31-2 to 35-6; 3 falling to Jack Thomond for only 18 runs. A rearguard innings from Assad Mehmood (42*) and generous Rams bowling (47 wides!) allowed Clitheroe to drag their score to 128.
Alex Olpin and Nick Round put on 31 for the opening wicket before 'Pin was unlucky to be given out lbw. Rob Read took the attack to the visitors hitting eight 4s in his knock of 37. Nick Round batted through to finish on 35 not out and saw Rams home with Jonny Dack (19 not out)
