On Monday 13th May, our U15s “Rammyfield” team played their first game of the season at Edenfield on a warm and sunny evening. The visitors from Cherry Tree were too strong for us in the end, winning by 34 runs. After winning the toss and choosing to bat, their opener made 55 retired not out off 36 balls helping them to reach 112-4 off 20 overs. Our reply was looking hopeful at one stage with Ed T (19) and Cameron H (16) forming a partnership that started to give us hope. But congratulations to Cherry Tree for an almost flawless fielding performance and for playing in the true spirit of the game.

On Thursday 16th May, Rammyfield U15s were in action again, at home to Prestwich in the LCF Knock Out Competition. The visitors won the toss and decided to bat making good progress on a sunny but chilly evening, ending up with 110-6 off 20 overs. Rammyfield’s reply was bolstered by openers Cameron H (17 off 11 balls) and Toby A (49 off 49 balls), but ultimately we lost out to some accurate bowling at the death to lose by 7 runs.

The U13s hosted Greenmount on Weds 15th May in the LJL Cup 1st round. Greenmount won the toss and put us in to bat on another sunny evening at Acre Bottom. Isaac T (27) and Toby A (30 ret n.o.) made a solid 65 run opening stand. Backed-up by Harry B (30 ret n.o.) and Oliver C (30 ret n.o.) we set a challenging total of 161-4 off 20 overs. Greenmount returned with 101-5 in the dying light, with wickets for Lewie P, George H and 2 for Harry B. We travel to Todmorden in the next round.

U11s hosted Brooksbottom B on the same night and
grabbed another win scoring 240 vs Brooksbottom’s 228, helped by very accurate bowling and sensible batting by all. Special mention to Zach and Evie, very disciplined batting!

On Monday night, our young U9s were in action against two very strong Elton sides at Ramsbottom. 1st Match Elton A scored 295 /2 vs our 250 /1. In a much closer 2nd match, Elton B 278/2 vs our 275 /1. Two losses but both competitive games and great team effort.
