2nd Team secure the first silverware for a few years and two league wins.
Team Selection 10/11 August & Match Preview
A really positive weekend for the club starting with the 2nd team winning the Junior Cup on Saturday. A great all-round performance with the runs and wickets spread around in an impressive team performance. This was backed up with 12 points on Sunday despite one or two hangovers against Burnley to move us up to 2nd in the Junior Division One table. The 1st team had a great result away at Burnley and came away with 12 points too . The 1st team are now 4th with a crucial game this weekend at home to new leaders Walsden.
Saturday 10/0819 1st XI v Walsden Home 1pm
After beating the then league leaders Burnley last week the 1st team host the new leaders on Saturday. It’s always a tough match and the reverse fixture in May was no different. Batting first we made 154 all out with 30s from Thomas Parton and Simon Hanson and 21 from JJ. Walsden’s pro Umesh Karunaratne took 5 for 20. Walsden reached the required total in 30 overs with Joe Gale hitting 62 off just 38 balls.
Our sub pro this week is Australian Mark Cosgrove. Mark is currently with Leicestershire and is a left-hand bat with nearly 15,000 first class runs at an average of 40.46.
