The 1st team host Church at Acre Bottom on Saturday and our pro for this weekend is Derbyshire’s Antonio Palladino whilst the 2nd team are away at Rishton the same day. Our 3rd team travel to Crompton on Sunday. Finally the 1st XI are playing at Bacup for the T20 finals day on Sunday.
1st and 3rd teams pick up victories but the 2nds lose in a low scoring match
On Saturday the 3rd team beat Great Harwood by 7 wickets to go top of Pool B. Ryan Storer, Jake Walker and Ed Lee all picked up 3 wickets as Great Harwood were bowled out for 81. Owen Collinge made 28 not out as the target was reached in less than 16 overs.
Last Sunday the 1st team travelled to Accrington with two former Accy players in Simon Hanson and Ashar Zaidi (our replacement pro). Accrington won the toss and asked us to bat first. From a solid opening stand of 64 we went on to post 228 for 5 with skipper Thomas Parton making 70 not out. Accrington were then bowled out for 89 with Daniel Pyke taking 5 for 39 from 10 overs to earn his baggy green. We are now 5th in the table on 104 points and 13 points behind Walsden in 2nd place.
The 2nd team lost a close low scoring game against Accrington at Acre Bottom. Batting first we were bowled out for 113 with Samuel Price top scoring with 20. Accrington’s Muhammed Rauf took 5 for 24. Dale Gabriel and Matthew Burdaky both picked up 2 wickets before Accrington recovered from 57 for 6 and 91 for 9 to reach the target in the 39th over. The 2nd team are still 3rd in the table on 117 points, 7 points behind leaders Clitheroe.
