Weekend Roundup & Team News – 8 June 2023
The weekend started with a thrilling tie in our T20 game against Todmorden. Batting first Todmorden set us 161 to win and at one stage it looked as though we would fall just short. But thanks to Harry’s 44 off 38 balls and after some great shots and running by Seb, Nick and Charlie we ran a two off the last ball to tie. Full scorecard here and the livestream is here
On Saturday both the 3rd team and the Women’s 2nd team won away. The 3rd team set Great Harwood a target of 262 with Ali Abbas scoring 85 and Lewie Pearson 45 off just 19 balls. We bowled Great Harwood out for 125 with the help of 3 wickets apiece for Isaac Turner and Nathan Young – full scorecard here. Up at Littleborough the Women’s 2nd team scored 121 for 1 in their T20 game thanks to Amelia Buckley (45) and Sophie Ullah (40). We then restricted Littleborough to 71 for 6 in their 20 overs.
Not much success on Sunday to report. The Womens’s 1st team lost in the National T20 knockout to Didsbury. Batting first we made 118 for 5 with Grace Johnson top scoring with 70 off 54 balls. Didsbury chased down the target in the 19th over to win by 7 wickets. Later in the day the 1st team lost up at Waslden after scoring 247 for 8. Jason Pyke made his maiden century (101) and Jonathan Dack scored 50. Walsden reached their target in the 48th over to win by 8 wickets. Full scorecard here and match report here
At Acre Bottom the 2nd team lost a close game to Colne. We closed on 169 for 9 with Michael Howarth scoring 66 and Henry Doyle 43. In a tight finish Colne won by 2 wickets with Toby Ashworth and Isaac Turner both picking up 3 wickets. Full scorecard is here and livestream here
This weekend starts with a T20 game against Bacup at Acre Bottom on Friday, starting at 6.15 pm. On Saturday both the 1st and 2nd teams are playing Norden. The 1st team are at Acre Bottom with the 2nd team away. Both games start at 1 pm.
On Sunday the Women’s 1st team are playing at home against Hightown St Marys in a 40 over game. The match will start at 1 pm.
