Weekend Roundup & Team News – 2 June 2023
Bank Holiday weekend started with a defeat in the T20 group stages to Norden last Friday. Norden posted 147 for 8 and we fell short at 109 for 8 – scorecard here. More positive news from the Worsley Cup game on Saturday when we chased down Nelson’s target of 273 for 8 thanks to a wonderful unbeaten partnership of 172 by Ben Pearson and Harry Caton – match report here Sunday brought us back down to earth with a bump as we fell to a 7 wicket defeat at Darwen despite Brad Fielding’s 56 not out – match report here.
The 2nd team also lost to Darwen on Sunday. After being bowled out for 114, we made a great start thanks to Toby Ashworth’s 5 for 16 but could not quite defend our total to lose by 3 wickets. Full scorecard here
The 3rd team continued their excellent start to the season with an 8 wicket win against Bacup. Bacup posted 136 for 9 with 2 wickets apiece for Oli Croft, Louis Almond-Read and Toby Anderson. We chased down the target thanks to an excellent 73 from Ali Abbas and 44 not out for Isaac Turner. Full scorecard here
Another busy weekend ahead with the a T20 game against Todmorden tonight at Acre Bottom, starting at 6 pm. On Saturday we have the Women’s 2nd team away at Littleborough and the 3rd team away at Great Harwood.
Sunday starts with the Women’s 1st team playing at home at 9:30 am against Didsbury in the National T20 knock out. That is followed by a 2nd team game against Colne starting at 1 pm. The 1st team are away at Walsden with that game also starting at 1 pm.
