Weekend Roundup & Team News – 15 June 2023
The weekend began with a convincing T20 win against Bacup. We opted to bowl first after winning the toss and Bacup made 120 for 6 with Alex Olpin taking 2 for 17 off his 4 overs. We reached our target in the 13th over thanks to Brad Fielding’s excellent 70 not out from just 46 balls . Full scorecard here and the livestream recording is here
Mixed fortunes on Saturday with the 1st team losing at home to Norden. After winning the toss Norden opted to bat first and scored 271 for 6 with Matthew Burdaky taking 4 for 69 from his 13 overs. Despite a number of batsmen making good starts we were all out for 213 in the 47th over. Jason Pyke made 49 (collection dodging) and Harry Caton 41. Toby Anderson and Alex Olpin both took 3 wickets as we bowled Norden out for 170. We reached our target in the 29th over with Ali Abbas scoring 64 off 58 balls and Michael Howarth (for him) a rapid 33 not out from 38 balls. On Sunday the Women’s 1st team beat Hightown St Marys in their LCF 40 over league game. Batting first we made 252 for 6 with Holly Brown scoring her maiden half century (57 off 65 balls) with support from Grace Johnson (42) and Anya Laraway (41). After a thunderstorm the target was reduced to 145 from 23 overs but we bowled out Hightown St Marys for 93 with Maeve Jones picking up 3 for 5 off 4 overs. This Friday we are away at Walsden for our next T20 game. The game will start at 6.15 pm.
On Saturday it’s the next round of the Worsley Cup as we travel to play Lowerhouse. The 3rd team are at Acre Bottom playing Norden in a league game. Both matches start at 1 pm.
Sunday sees a double header with Enfield. The 1st team are away at Dill Hall Lane with the 2nd team at Acre Bottom. Again both games start at 1 pm.
