Weekend Roundup & Team News – 24 May 2023
Mixed fortunes last weekend in our games against Burnley. The 1st team’s losing run in the league continued with a six wicket loss despite a return to form for Tom Parton (85) and Ben Pearson (42). Michael Everett’s match report is available here. The 2nd team won in the last over in a tight finish. Burnley closed on 186 for 9 with Isaac Turner taking 3 for 31 off his 12 overs. We reached our target with two balls to spare thanks to an excellent 78 not out from Seb Schofield. Full scorecard here
On Friday the Women’s 1st team also beat Burnley in their National T20 Knock Out match. After winning the toss we batted first and made 159 for 7. Grace Johnson made 41 and Maeve Jones 61. We then restricted Burnley to 96 for 6 thanks to Shriya Pindoria (1 for 13 off 4) and Anya Laraway (1 for 12 off 4).
Its a busy Bank Holiday weekend ahead with the start of the T20 competition on Friday. We are away at Stag Park to play Norden with the game starting at 6:15 pm. On Saturday the 1st team play their next game in the Worsley Cup at Acre Bottom against Nelson. The game will start at 1 pm.
On Sunday the 1st and 2nd teams are up against Darwen with the 1st team away at Birch Hall. The 2nd team are at Acre Bottom. Both games will start at 1 pm.
The 3rd team finish off the Bank Holiday weekend on Monday with a home game against Bacup. No game for the Women’s teams this weekend.
We wish Sen the best of luck for his South African A Team tour of Sri Lanka. We have Billy Godleman, Ben Compton and Nikhil Gangta standing in this weekend as sub pros.
