Match Report Ramsbottom Women’s 1st XI v Ribble Valley Vipers 1st XI  –  12 May 2021

Ribble Valley Vipers 82 for 2 (20 overs) & Ramsbottom 85 for 1 (14.3 overs)

After the weather put paid to the game on Bank Holiday Monday the Women’s 1st team started their campaign in the Women’s T20 National Club Cup Competition last night and thankfully avoiding a potential bowl out to decide the tie.

On a night that brought sun, showers and a rainbow Rammy won the toss and asked Ribble Valley to bat first. Although not many wickets fell the bowling was tight and runs were hard to come by. Rammy restricted the visitors to 82 for 2 from their 20 overs. Rammy used 7 bowlers with opener Daisy Hunt leading the way with 3 overs for just 4 runs. The pick of the rest were Abriella Bingham with 1 for 12 off her 4 overs and Olivia Giffard who bowled 3 overs for 13 runs taking one wicket. Grace Johnson top scored for the visitors ending on 21 not out.

Despite losing Daisy Hunt for 7 Rammy reached their target in the 15th over. Phoebe Johnstone and Sophie Ullah put together an unbroken winning partnership. Opener Phoebe finished on 37 not out. Sophie came in at number 3 and made 30 not out. Martha Smith taking the only wicket to fall, recording figures of 1 for 16 from her 3 overs.

So a great start to the National T20 competition and congratulations to the team and coaches. In the next round we have a tough match against a strong Leyland side so keep an eye out for more details.
